Child Safety Seat Requirements
SB 567 by Senator Jackie Speier (D-Hillsborough) requires that children less than six years of age or weighing less than 60 pounds be properly restrained in a child passenger restraint system and doubles fines for first-time child safety seat violations.

Diamond (HOV) Lanes
To use the carpool lane during commute hours, you must be traveling in a carpool, vanpool, or public transit vehicle. Motorcycle riders may also use carpool lanes. During non-commute hours, the lanes revert to general traffic use. Each child counts as an occupant, but pets, infants still in the womb, inflatable dolls or ghosts do not (we’ve heard ’em all).
