Author to speak at Milpitas Community Library

The Milpitas Library Book Group presents author M. Allen Cunningham on Thursday, May 29, at 7:30 pm. When released in 2004, his novel, The Green Age of Asher Witherow, was compared to the work of William Styron and the San Jose Mercury News described it as ÒVivid in characterÉan impressive and satisfying debut novel.Ó Join us as he discusses this powerful story about a young soul coming of age during the boom and bust years of a late 1800Õs California coal mining town.

This program is free and open to the public. The Milpitas Community Library is located at 40 N. Milpitas Blvd, Milpitas, CA 95035. For more information call 408-262-1171 ext. 3616. The event is made possible by a Big Box Program grant from the Silicon Valley Library System and the Bay Area Library & Information System.

Identity Theft Prevention Program at Milpitas Library

Kai Deering is a certified Identity Theft Risk Management Specialist, member of the Board of Directors of Silicon Valley Crimestoppers, and a popular author and speaker. At 3:00 pm on Saturday, May 31st at the Milpitas Library she will be discussing the dangers of identity theft, prevention tips, and what help is available for this problem. A 2007 survey identified 8.4 million victims of identity theft at a cost of $49.3 billion. Find out how your personal information falls into the wrong hands and what to do if it happens to you.
