About

Medieval Age 1066-1500
This topic is about Britain after the Norman invasion of 1066. It is known as the Medieval Period or the Middle Ages. You will learn about crazy kings and queens, bloody battles and wars, horrible diseases and huge castles and cathedrals.

Build a Medieval Castle
Windows freeware to download pattern for building a good-sized medieval castle complete with towers, gatehouse and keep.

Cardboard Box Castle
Find a really large cardboard box. Draw lines where the cutting for the turrets and drawbridge should go. Then get an adult to help with a box cutter. Paint to suit.

Toys in the Middle Ages
Today's children still play with toys that were common place in the Middle Ages: balls, dolls, hobby horses, pull toys and more. Few toys survived from the medieval period but those that did, in addition to other evidence from this period and from other cultures, indicate that children's toys are remarkably universal.

Medieval Siege
The trebuchet was one of the most devastating weapons of the Middle Ages. During medieval sieges, this destruction machine crushed castle walls. Using trial and error, medieval engineers adjusted the trebuchet to make sure its missile hit the castle wall--and destroyed it.

Make Your Own Knight's Helmet
