A2Z Mentor Connection
Help finding a tutor or learning experience in your area.
A to Z Home's Cool assumes no liability for those using
the A to Z
Mentor Connection. Neither tutors nor families are screened
in any way by A to Z Home's Cool.
Both those willing to tutor homeschoolers and homeschoolers
looking for tutors or mentors will appreciate this list. And,
yes, you may post even if you charge for your services. Those
joining this list to look for a tutor should expect to be paying.
You will need to first join
our Yahoo Group before you will be allowed to post to our group.
I then moderate your first post just to be sure it is on topic...
offering an educational opportunity or asking for a tutor or
mentor. If you are already a member of any other Yahoo Group,
this will not be a concern.
The A
to Z Mentor Connection is a list for those trying
to set up independent study programs for a small group of homeschooled
students, and those interested in finding such a study arrangement.
The study groups need not just be academic. Those forming such
activities as choruses, bands or sports teams for homeschoolers
may also post here.
The A
to Z Mentor Connection is a list for those in some
field of expertise who would be willing for a parent and child
to visit with them at their place of work, to be a mentor for
a teen interested in your occupation or hobby.
The A
to Z Mentor Connection is a list also for those holding
an event or program that is educational.
This is not a list for arranging babysitting! Parents or other
responsible family member should be nearby at all times during
a tutoring session. Tutors should also insist on this for their
own reputation.
Those with large, commercial tutoring or coaching services
- online or off - may post a link to their website in our bookmarks
section. Be sure in the description to put where you are located.
(Tip: if your business name starts with "A" or "The,"
list it with the next word and slip the article in at the end.)
While all may view the postings, members have the advantage
of being able to use the Yahoo Group features, for example, the
chat room, to use for mentoring chats. They may use the calendar
to post to the others about a chat. If you'd like to hold a regular
chat on a particular subject (Say, how to teach reading at home.),
please contact me. This is an excellent
way to build a reputation as a good tutor.
Your first post only will be moderated. This is to prevent
off-topic or annoying postings. All those on the list should
expect to see messages concerning tutoring services and not consider
them to be "spam." Your first post will not appear
right away, but only after the moderator has had time to review
it. I typically check for new postings once daily. As the messages
in the archive can all be searched, there is no need for anyone
to do repeat postings. (Repeated postings will be considered
spam, and all your postings will be removed.) If you wish a posting
to be removed, please contact me and
refer to the number and month of your post and to this list,

Your subject header should start with the area you are in
and then the course you are teaching or looking for a tutor in.
For example:
"San Jose, CA, Webpage Design Tutor" from a mentor,
or "Dallas, TX, Calculus Teacher Needed" from a parent
or teen.
or "Washington DC Holiday Choral Presentation 12/23/04"
Replies go to the poster. There is no discussion on
the list, but you still may wish to be on "no mail"
so you don't get all the offers about tutoring. Replies to your
own post will go to the email address you used to post.

precautions, and parents, stay with your children during tutoring
sessions.
