About Classical Christian Education

About Classical and Christian Education
Please take a moment to read through this brief outline of what classical education really was and is today. We believe that you will find more myth than truth in the modern image of classical education.

Classical Christian Education: A Look at Some History
The historic forms or examples can be found where Christians produced educated, biblically literate, discerning students. The historic form can be called Classical Christian Education. By Ben House, Pastor of Grace Covenant Church.

Classical Conversations
Our once-a-week, supplemental, academic programs provide a committed Christian community and structure and support, along with great fellowship for the students. We offer Foundations (K4-6th), Essentials (3rd-6th), and Challenge for (7th-12).

The Lost Tools of Learning
The stock argument in favor of postponing the school-leaving age and prolonging the period of education generally is there there is now so much more to learn than there was in the Middle Ages. This is partly true, but not wholly. Dorothy Sayers.

Trivium Pursuit
The Bluedorns welcome you to Trivium Pursuit Online. Here you will find resources which apply Christian Classical Education to Homeschooling.

What is a Classical Education?
The early years of school are spent in absorbing facts, systematically laying the foundations for advanced study. In the middle grades, students learn to think through arguments. In the high school years, they learn to express themselves. This classical pattern is called the trivium. By Susan Wise Bauer.

Why Classical Education?
This talk will attempt to answer two questions; what is Classical Education and why is it necessary in our day. You may read the lecture or listen to it with Real Audio.

Ages and Stages: The Trivium

Grammar Stage
Grades 1-6. The subject of Grammar is the heart of the grammar stage curriculum, and throughout most of the history of classical education, meant Latin and Greek grammar.

Dialectic Stage
Grades 7-9. The subject of Logic is the heart of the dialectic stage curriculum.

Rhetoric Stage
Grades 10-12. Originally, rhetoric was credited with the power to create and maintain civilized society.
