Youth Art Contest – Riding Future Transit
Get ready for our second annual Youth Art Contest! Assemblymember Alex Lee is inviting students from our schools to participate in the upcoming contest themed “Riding Future Transit.” The buses and trains that crisscross the Bay Area are iconic, and key to fighting climate change. Gas-powered vehicles and other transportation contribute over 20% of energy-related greenhouse gas emissions in the U.S., representing the nation’s largest source of carbon pollution. California will soon transition to zero-emission vehicles. More than likely, your future trips between school and home will be on these vehicles. Tree Lighting Ceremony
Mark our last special event of 2024 on your calendar! Milpitas’ annual Tree Lighting Ceremony, Thursday is December 5, 7-9 p.m. at Milpitas Civic Center Plaza, 457 E. Calaveras Blvd. See City Hall, the Community Center and the Barbara Lee Senior Center lit up for the holidays. Take family photos with Santa. Enjoy festive entertainment from Milpitas Community Concert Band, Jensen School of Performing Arts and the swing band Death and Taxes. Admission is free, and s’mores kits will be available for purchase onsite.

Milpitas’ Milk and Cookies with Santa event is a favorite with young families! Enjoy this exclusive opportunity to take holiday photos with Santa in a relaxed, festive environment. With a giant cookie decorating kit, holiday crafts and entertainment to keep everyone smiling, the wait for your turn at the photo booth passes in a flash. Parents and grandparents are welcome to join children in the photos. We offer a discount ticket for non-participating family members who won’t be needing their own cookie kit or craft supplies.
