Uniforms – What to Wear to School

Milpitas schools have requirement to wear uniforms in grades K-8. Check below for details about what your school uniforms should look like.

Many local stores with a children’s clothing section will have uniforms in the late summer, just a school is starting. See list below of acceptable sources and brands.

Uniform requirements for the current school year in Milpitas, CA.

  • Shirts must have a collar, such as a polo shirt, a dress shirt, or a turtle neck style.
  • Sweaters and jackets must be plain without excessive or large lettering on them.
  • In general, shoes, socks and belts must be fairly plain and typically white, brown, black or blue. Shoes must be closed-toed.
  • Check by school name below for color options. Verify through links.

The high schools do not require uniforms, but they do have dress codes.

Milpitas High School students must dress appropriately for school. A student’s apparel or lack of apparel should not distract from the educational process. Clothing that depicts violence and/or obscene words/pictures, sexually suggestive statements, or drugs/alcohol are considered inappropriate and will not be allowed at Milpitas High School. Clothing that reveals cleavage, belly, back, or underwear disrupts the educational process. Shoes must be worn at all times. Any student dressed inappropriately will be sent to the office. MUSD announces plans for Virtual Pathway curriculum in 2021 and beyond
On Tuesday May 4, 2021, Superintendent Cheryl Jordan announced via email the creation of the MUSD EducatEveryWhere v. 4.0 Virtual Learning Pilot program for students who thrive in a virtual learning environment. This program will be implemented alongside normal in-person learning even after the pandemic is over, as an alternative option for some students, according to the email. Students in the program will be supported directly by the district, Jordan said.

Sunnyhills Neighborhood Association Scholarship

Sunnyhills Scholarship

The Sunnyhills Neighborhood Association (SNA) recognizes the importance of higher education to the residents of our community, and the burden of it’s expense, especially for those in financial need. The SNA Scholarship is available to members of the senior class of Milpitas High School (MHS) and Calaveras Hills High School (CHHS) who will attend college following graduation and are from the Sunnyhills area (from the Milpitas/Fremont border to Jacklin Blvd, between Milpitas Blvd. and I-680). Priority will be given to those who can establish financial need and those who have volunteered or performed community service for SNA. The scholarship shall be presented at the Milpitas High School Senior Awards ceremony or the Calaveras Hills High School Awards Night.

Applications must be received by email no later than April 15, at 3PM, at info@SunnyhillsNeighborhood.org

Eligibility:

  • Must be a graduating senior at Milpitas High School or Calaveras Hills High School
  • Must plan on attending a 2 or a 4-year college or university in the fall of the year of graduation and taking a “full-time student class load”
  • Must compose a 1,000 word essay or an 8 minute video on the following topic: How has living in Sunnyhills made a difference in who I have become?”

Submission Requirements:

  1. Completed Cover Page
  2. MHS and/or CHHS Unofficial Transcript
  3. Evidence of volunteering or providing community service for the SNA if relevant
  4. Copy of free or reduced lunch documentation if relevant to establishing financial need
  5. 1,000 word computer printed essay or link to 8 minute video on the topic “How has living in Sunnyhills made a difference in who I have become?”

Selection:

The winner will be selected by a panel of Sunnyhills Neighborhood Association members who will choose the most inspiring applicant. The winner will be announced at the winner’s  Awards Night in May. All decisions are final.

Payment:

The check will be issued by SNA upon receipt of the winner’s Fall class schedule as proof of full-time enrollment in a 2 or 4 year college program. The winner’s schedule must be received by SNA by Oct.1, 2021.
