Royal Gorge Cross-Country Ski Resort
Opening day, Thursday, November 28, 2024. Check for trail conditions. North America’s largest cross country skiing resort, located near Lake Tahoe California. North America’s largest XC resort, Royal Gorge offers 6 distinct trail systems featuring 8 different warming huts across 6,000 acres, seamlessly integrated with the Village at Sugar Bowl. Not just cross country, but also skate skiing, snow shoeing, dog trails, and beginner trails for small children.

Achieve Tahoe, formerly Disabled Sports USA Far West
Open. Located within Palisades Tahoe. Achieve provides instruction and adaptive equipment for hundreds of students each winter. Our experienced instructors and highly trained volunteers make skiing possible for anyone with a disability. Miniature horses are not permitted on lifts, just incase you needed to know this.

Families can take the kids snow tubing, skiing, snowboarding, sledding and snowshoeing, all on one lift ticket. Home to one of California’s first snow tubing areas. Located just off I-80 at Donner Summit.

Tahoe Cross Country Ski Area
Open…We are OPEN today for season pass holders, day tickets, retail, rentals, lessons. Cafe amenities are open weekend only, and we have nutrition bars, snacks and cookies daily. Plumas Ski Club
Open when club members want to ski. Come try skiing on brand new 12-16 foot long board skis just like the old time ski races of the 1860’s. Holds long board ski races in January. Near the Eureka Gold Mine in the historic ghost town of Johnsville, California, and the top resorts in Graeagle, north of Truckee about 40 miles. Noted for longboard skiing. Depends on volunteers to open.

Yosemite South

Badger Pass – Yosemite Ski & Snowboard Area

Uniforms – What to Wear to School

Milpitas schools have requirement to wear uniforms in grades K-8. Check below for details about what your school uniforms should look like.

Many local stores with a children’s clothing section will have uniforms in the late summer, just a school is starting. See list below of acceptable sources and brands.

Shirts must have a collar, such as a polo shirt, a dress shirt, or a turtle neck style.
Sweaters and jackets must be plain without excessive or large lettering on them.

The high schools do not require uniforms, but they do have dress codes.

Milpitas High School students must dress appropriately for school. A student’s apparel or lack of apparel should not distract from the educational process. Clothing that depicts violence and/or obscene words/pictures, sexually suggestive statements, or drugs/alcohol are considered inappropriate and will not be allowed at Milpitas High School. Clothing that reveals cleavage, belly, back, or underwear disrupts the educational process. Shoes must be worn at all times. Any student dressed inappropriately will be sent to the office. The State of California legislature has enacted, and the Governor has signed, two state laws, Assembly Bill No. 3088, which took effect on August 31, 2020, and Senate Bill No. 91, which took effect on February 1, 2021, that provide state-wide eviction and foreclosure protections for many residential tenants and property owners suffering from economic hardship due to COVID-19. These protections extend through June 30, 2021. State law has replaced local legislation, including the County’s ordinance, in providing protections for residential tenants facing evictions.

Cold and Flu Facts
Influenza, or the flu, is a respiratory infection caused by a variety of flu viruses. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates that 35 to 50 million Americans come down with the flu during each flu season, which typically lasts from November to March.

Colds are minor infections of the nose and throat caused by more than 200 different viruses. Rhinovirus is the most common cause, accounting for 10 to 40 percent of colds. Other common cold viruses include coronavirus and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV).
A cold may last for about one week, but some colds last longer, especially in children, the elderly and those in poor health.
In the United States, colds account for more visits to the doctor than any other condition.
Adults get an average of two to four colds per year, mostly between September and May.
Young children suffer from an average of six to eight colds per year.
Colds are highly contagious. They most often spread when droplets of fluid that contain a cold virus are transferred by touch. These droplets may also be inhaled.
